Introduction: The Architecture of Elegance
In the world of high-end retail, the architecture must act as a silent guardian of the luxury within. For the Malabari Jewellery project, Draftitecture was tasked with providing the technical backbone for a space that balances bold, monolithic presence with intricate interior detailing.
Luxury retail drafting isn't just about drawing walls; it’s about micro-precision—where every millimeter of a display shelf or a lighting recess contributes to the final customer experience.

The Exterior: Monolithic Identity
The facade of Malabari Jewellery is a study in modern minimalism and brand visibility. We focused on creating a clean, textured blue envelope that serves as a canvas for the golden branding.
Technical Facade Execution:
- Arched Portals: The central entrance and flanking windows feature soft, rounded arches. These required precise geometric drafting to ensure perfect symmetry and a seamless finish with the textured plaster.
- Integrated Lighting: We detailed the recessed LED strip along the top parapet, ensuring the light wash is uniform and emphasizes the building's horizontal volume without causing glare on the glass.
- Vertical Cladding Details: Notice the fine vertical ribbing on the lower sections of the facade. Our drafting team ensured these were spaced mathematically to provide a rhythmic base for the large glazing units.
Part II: Interior Systems — The Art of Display
Jewellery retail requires specialized interior drafting, particularly concerning security, lighting, and product presentation. We moved from the macro scale of the building to the micro scale of the display cabinetry.

Cabinetry and Display Engineering:
- Wall Counter Systems: As seen in our detailed elevation drawings, we developed a system of wall counters that integrate both storage and high-visibility display areas.
- Vertical Display Shelves: We drafted slender, vertical niches for individual necklace busts. These niches include integrated spotlighting channels that are hidden from the viewer's direct line of sight.
- Lower Counter Coordination: The lower counters were designed with ergonomic heights for seated consultations, incorporating secure drawers and velvet-lined display trays that operate on precision runners.
"In jewellery design, the drafting must be as fine as the product. If a shelf is off by two millimeters, the lighting won't hit the diamond correctly."
Part III: The Technical Journey from Sketch to Site
At Draftitecture, our role is to handle the complex technical background so the designer's vision remains pure. For this boutique, our workflow was built on three core pillars:
- Precision Cabinetry Drafting: Providing 1:5 and 1:10 scale details for the display units to ensure perfect fabrication.
- Material Synchronization: Coordinating the transition between the deep blue exterior texture and the warm, high-end interior laminates and glass.
- Lighting Integration: Creating a comprehensive electrical and reflected ceiling plan that prioritizes product illumination while maintaining the "mood" of a luxury lounge.
Conclusion: Crafting the Future of Retail
The Malabari Jewellery project is a testament to what can be achieved when global architectural standards meet a culture of continuous learning. By managing the technical execution—from the rhythmic facade to the micro-details of the display shelves—we allow our clients to focus on what they do best: designing the journey.
